Seri’s world is defined by very clear rules. The beasts prowl the forest paths, and the beasts hunt the People. Warriors kill the beasts and gain strength from the armor they make from them. And warriors explore the unknown world, to find new homes for the People. That was how it had always been, and how it would always be.

Until the day Seri encounters Tsana.

Tsana is a stranger, someone who is–impossibly–not of the People. She comes from the unknown world, from a strange group that speaks a different language, wears metal, and, strangest of all, communicates with beasts. And Tsana’s People find Seri’s barbaric. Somehow, with the world at the brink of war, Seri will have to find a way to make peace, and in the process, learn a lot about herself.

This is a world of heroes, and that is what Seri will become.

But when a man from the same society as her father comes to town, looking to hire her and her brother to retrieve a magical artifact that used to be in her mother’s care, Arian finds that she can’t run away from her past. Her destiny is intimately tied to the destiny of her city, and one way or another, she will have to fight for it. Arian has to steal back not just the artifact, but her city itself.

Atasha Serrino was on the rise. A young mage in a country where magic is rare, Tash had everything he ever wanted. Magic, friends, love, a promising military career. People expected great things from him. Things were looking up. And Tash was on top of the world.

Until the day everything came crashing down, taking one of his friends and Tash’s right leg in the process.

Now, Tash has nothing. No friends, no family. With one friend a traitor, another dead, and his career in ashes behind him, Tash is back at the beginning again. He finds himself in Alliance City, the largest metropolis in the Republic, and where he was once starting to be respected, now he’s nothing more than another lost soldier, and worse, a Hantha, a member of a much-maligned racial minority. With rent payments piling up and no relief in sight, Tash would want nothing more than to be left alone to die.

But that isn’t what fate has in store for him. And when he stumbles on a job maintaining a clocktower in Alliance, a relic of a bygone age just like him, Tash will rediscover his own inner fire. With nothing left to him, surrounded by the ashes of the man he once was, Tash will rise.
